Ettiquette for the pilgrim's return home
It is a Sunnah to utter al-Takbir on every hill three times: Allahu Akbar, then to say:
("We return, repenting, worshiping and praising our Lord – True is His promise, He gave victory to His servant and Alone defeated the army of the confederates.
He sends a message to his family announcing his arrival and he should not return unexpectedly as this is forbidden.
When he approaches his hometown, he should say:
"O Allah! I ask You for its goodness, the goodness of its people and the best in it. And save me from its evil, the evil of its people and the evil that lies in it. O Allah! Provide us in it delight and sustenance. O Allah! Provide us of its fruits and protect us from its diseases and make us pleasant to its people and make its good inhabitants pleasant to us".
When he enters his home town, he starts with the mosque where he prays two rak‘as, avoiding the times when prayers are disliked, then he enters his home where he performs two rak‘as praising Allah and thanking Him for the success He granted him.
It is recommended for whoever greets the returning pilgrim to say:
"May Allah accept your Hajj, forgive your sin and compensate your expenses".
The pilgrim answers: "May Allah forgive us and you".
The pilgrim should be in a better state after his return compared to how he was before, as it is considered a good sign for the acceptance of his Hajj and his good deeds should increase.
